So, upon reviewing the first post I (and Matt) have decided that maybe it was a little negative. What can I say, it was not one of my best weeks. I have to tell myself to accept these things as small speed bumps on the long and twisted road of baby making. But things have definitely started to feel better now. Don't have to rely on always taking my pills so the nausea seems to be more or less reduce to a morning vomit only!! Yeah! Everything else seems to have settled a bit for now as well. Getting used to the state of things as they are. I have given up on the idea of being a shiny, pretty pregnant person and the idea of clear skin and dying my hair. Seemed like a bit of a vain pursuit whilst growing human beings inside of you, aka there are more important things to worry about. The belly is coming. Although I would like to look more pregnant and less fat. However I feel that it is best for this growth to occur more slowly. Over this week I have slowly started to retire scrubs that are tight and drive me crazy with uncomfortableness all day long. I guess I am lucky that I wear pjs all day for work and have made it this far. Will finally have to give in and go get some maternity something or other shortly to accommodate enlarged belly and, sadly, bum too, as you will see from the picture.
This week was pretty busy besides all that. I am trying to organize glasses and contacts before the babies come. I have not bought glasses in about 8 years and was shocked at the cost! Oh well, such is inflation, we will claim what we can. I decided once I will be home more and sleeping when I can, that functioning glasses will be a small blessing for the long days coming our way. Also had another checkup with the doc. It was a huge uplifting moment for me to hear both baby heartbeats and to have some sort of indication that they are alive and well as far as that can tell. Maybe that was the reason that the week, in general, just felt better. I can't wait to start feeling some movement, which they say can be any time in the next few weeks. And also we have our second ultrasound in 2 weeks! Yeah for that too.
Also this weekend we had mom's birthday and the comic expo to take care of, plus work work work thrown in there. I can say that it was all good times but a little exhausting. Meeting the movie star crush of your life can be draining! But I feel like I can truly move on with the rest of my life now that that's out of the way. Also, at the expo I picked up my first baby purchase. An art print for the babies zoo themed room.
A little premature maybe, but hey, some people buy strollers and baby clothes before they're even pregnant, and I figure we're almost half way so maybe its ok.
This week the babies should be about the size of sweet potatoes... They are learning to swallow better, yawn, hiccup, and developing their nervous systems. While listening to the heartbeats the doctor said it was good that we were hearing variation because it means their nervous systems are responsive. The beats sound literally like galloping horses! Its a pretty crazy thing to hear coming from your own belly and by far the best thing since the ultrasound.
Anyways thats most of it in a nutshell, for now!
